Dean of the Faculty of Language and Literature at Universitas Sains Al-Qur’an (UNSIQ), Atinia Hidayah, S.S., M.Hum., was a guest speaker at a workshop organized by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia, on Friday (05/01/2024). The workshop entitled “POLISH AND PERFECT: Basic Editing and Proofreading Workshop” took place from 09.00 to 12.00 Malaysian time.
The event was attended by 195 students from various faculties, including the Faculty of Business Management, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, the Faculty of Computer Sciences, the Faculty of Accounting, the Academy of Islamic and Contemporary Studies, and the Faculty of Health Sciences. In addition, several lecturers teaching English courses at UiTM also attended the workshop, which discussed editing and proofreading techniques for intermediate level.
The workshop was designed to give participants an understanding of the steps that need to be taken to produce neat, good, and legible writing. The main focus of this event was to provide practical guidance on editing and proofreading techniques, especially for the intermediate level.
The presence of Atinia Hidayah as a resource person in this workshop is the result of a collaboration between UNSIQ and UiTM, especially with the Faculty of Language and Literature. This cooperation proves their commitment to improve the quality of education and knowledge in the field of language and literature.
With this workshop, participants are expected to improve their skills in editing and proofreading so that the resulting writing becomes more professional and structured. It is also a concrete step in strengthening the relationship between universities in Indonesia and Malaysia and opens up opportunities for further cooperation in the future.
